The Annuals rock. In a quiet, laidback sense. Just go buy their album.

Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki

Have you ever gone from not even knowing something existed, to falling in love with it and desperately needing it, in the space of 30 seconds?

I stopped into Electric Fetus to buy another album and there was a song playing that just grabbed me.  Turned out it was a used CD that they'd just stuck on the sound system, so I bought it on a whim and shoved it into the car stereo on the way home, and was just captivated by the first song, "Brother".  It's Be He Me by The Annuals.  It is a great album, kind of laid back rock, fairly acoustic with orchestral or odd instuments, but a bit of total rocking out.  I'm not even exactly sure what to compare it.  Hmmm...I like Death Cab, old school Modest Mouse, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright.  If you like most of those, you'll like this too.  Even if you don't, you'll still like them.  It's a gorgeous album.
