So I had an extended conversation via email with Chris last week about setting up another euchre night. And Saturday while eating lunch, I finally hammered out a date and a place with her. And I said I'd set up the meetup and send out the invitation emails.

Did I do it right then? No.

Did I remember to do it that night when I got home? No.

Did I remember to do it Sunday? No.

Did I remember to do it yesterday? No.

God only knows that else I have managed to completely fail on, in the last few days. And today is so busy at work... I had plans for tonight but I clearly need to go home, retrace my mental steps and try to figure out if there's anything else I've screwed up, and fix it ASAP.

ETA: Of course, Chainlighting knows exactly what to say to cheer me up...

So I had this conversation with a friend:

ME: ...Look, boys touching boys, in general, is not interesting to me. Sorry.
FRIEND: But some boys are so hot that it's fun to watch them touch anyone.
ME: OK. True. Like John Barrowman. He's so hot, it doesn't matter WHO he makes out with.
FRIEND: Well, there's got to be SOMEONE who he wouldn't be hot with.
ME: John Barrowman and...Meatloaf?
FRIEND: Oh my God!!!
ME: That's a bad oh-my-God, right?
FRIEND: That's just gross. Meatloaf wouldn't be tolerable even if he was with Sen--
ME: Do not even use his name in the same sentence as Meatloaf's. I will cut you.
FRIEND: So, Meatloaf is like the anti-John Barrowman? He sucks the hotness out of those unfortunate enough to come near him?
ME: They're like the immovable object and the irresistable force.

This conversation (and the crack we were apparently smoking during it) got me speculating. So, in honor of the return of Torchwood and its astoundingly high slash content to BBC America this weekend, I have created this poll:

Poll #1126716

What would happen if John Barrowman and Meatloaf made out?

John Barrowman's charm and hotness consumes and overcomes everything around it. It would be at least marginally hot.

Meatloaf. MEATLOAF. Haven't you ever seen him? The icky is of a magnitude that no amount of hotness can overcome.

Why do you think this is such a bad thing? I have a whole collection of photo manips of the two of them on my RPS journal that I'd love to share with you!

Can we go back to talking about Sylar and Mohinder?

If you ever make me think about something this disgusting again, I will hunt you down and make you read Matthinder fic.

24th-Jan-2008 01:52 am - I AM GETTING VERY TIRED OF THIS.
Misc - winter tree
I like living in Minnesota. I actually do. But there's always a couple of periods in January and February where it gets really cold. Like right now. At this current moment? It is 10 below zero. And the wind chill is 24 below. If you live by the Celsius temperature scale instead of Fahrenheit, that's 23 below zero with a wind chill of 31 below. In layman's terms, that's OMFGTOOFUCKINGCOLDWHATTHEHELLISGOINGON MYFINGERSACTUALLYHURTWHENIWASHEDMYHANDSJUSTNOW.

Seriously. If I didn't mention this to you guys? The dishsoap on my kitchen sink, which is up against an exterior wall, has had ice crystals in it for two days. It's no wonder I've been unable to concentrate: not only is it still getting dark at a ludicrously early time, my brain is probably permanently frozen.

I would really like to go to the Art Shanties on Medicine Lake this weekend, but...daaaaamn. They're claiming it's going to warm up to around 20, but considering how I've spent all night since I got home from work at 10 pm huddled under the big fluffy blanket trying to keep from shivering, I don't think I'll be doing anything outside in the next few days.

And now that I've finished writing about Life on Mars, I'm off to bed, where I can huddle under multiple fluffy blankets.

I am not a Heath Ledger fan (not as in, "I don't like him", but as in, "I just never felt an emotional attachment to his work"). So hearing about his death was like hearing about my co-worker's grandparent's death: mainly sadness for the people who are left behind and have to cope.

If you're interested, no matter what your opinion of or attachment level to Heath, you might want to read [info]mostlikely2 's post on the matter, which is kind of turning into a mini-essay about death and celebrity and how the versions of themselves that actors and writers put forth affects how people view them and how that in turn affects people's interactions with, and reactions to, them. I'm not summing it up well. Just go and read it. Especially the last two paragraphs.
22nd-Jan-2008 10:38 am - IT IS TOO FREAKING COLD OUTSIDE.
Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki
Do you want to know how cold it is in Minnesota right now? My house was built in 1916 and the kitchen sink is on an exterior wall, right against a window. When I got home last night...there were ice crystals in my dishsoap. Yeah. That's the point where it's too cold for me.

I heard from Q last night for the first time in a while. Apparently, for reasons known only to himself, he decided it would be a good idea to concoct an actual recipe for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. I'm not precisely sure why he wanted to have his brains smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped round a gold brick, but he seemed pretty happy with the process.

And finally, for my public accounting of what I (failed to) get done last night! I did get my grocery shopping done, and I did make a nice big pot of vegetable soup which turned out fairly well. However, by the time I got done putting that on to cook and eating dinner, it was 10:35 pm. And then I got online and got distracted by the Mini Cooper Clubman. Have you seen this, people? I mean...it's awesome. I so cannot afford one, but I want one. I want want want. Like, as Sylar is to braaains, I now am to the Mini Cooper Clubman.

Um. Okay. Distracted myself yet again. I did almost finish the story I was working on. I really like the beginning, I like the end fairly well, but there's one scene in the middle I'm not happy with. And it has to be there, but it really slows things down. So I spent a huge chunk of time fiddling with it, and I think I've finally fixed it, but I want to re-read it while I'm awake (and not distracted) to make sure. (Red Dwarf reviews? Nothing. Grrrrr.)

So there is my post of partial-fail! Now I am off to put together a bunch of data that was just requested from me by co-workers. Ugh.

“Well this is in response to Jennifer Syler poking me with a sharp stick and saying, if you don't like your voice so much then post it so we can tell. Actually what sugar this is I get a chance to interview Susiah(?) Miles from noon line on telephone today and you know everybody else involved in it, it was a conference call and their voice is were coming through on the recording how nicely modulated and then I would speak in my voice which is just like blah blah blah, I don't really mind on my voice when I hear it, it's really don't bite it on recording though you know you sit there and you just think is that what I really sound like? Like the people think of me when they hear me, anyway so there it is my voice for your consideration and now it's 8:00pm and still at work, I really should go finish engineering change orders, for data and safety monitoring board for construction, before I get in trouble, and now if you have any idea what that means and you should be very very very glad.”

Digital Blasphemy - "Cobalt Daisy"

Tonight??? TONIGHT??? Was the awesomest hockey game ever in the history of hockey. Do you know why?

Marian Gaborik scored five goals. FIVE GOALS.  If you don't know hockey, just trust me.  In the average hockey game, an entire team working together may not get five goals.  So when one player scores that many?  You scream till you lose your voice.

There are few things in this world prettier than Sendhil Ramamurthy. That's one of them.

Also, I posted my entry in the [info]heroes_xmasexchange...45 minutes late.  *ducks and hides*  But I wasn't fussing with it this time.  I simply couldn't sit still and concentrate on posting after getting to watch that game live.

ESP told me I needed to take this quiz, and actually, both of them predicted I would be "Blue".  Note that the results of this quiz mesh perfectly with the myriad of Heroes quizzes I've taken that say I am Sylar...

12th-Dec-2007 11:58 am - Hello flist: find this fic!
Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki

Quick!  [info]aelora's holiday cheer is fading, and I know a fic that she needs to read, but I haven't bookmarked it and I can't remember who wrote it or even when it was posted!

It's set decades in the future, when Molly is married (I think to Micah) and has a daughter who coincidentally has the same time-traveling ability as Hiro, and she's visiting a grey-haired Mohinder.  Then Sylar shows up after not being heard from in years, and tells Mohinder he's been searching forever for a special with that ability, at which point Mohinder realizes his granddaughter has just been killed and has a heart attack.  And just when you're about to hate Sylar viciously, you find out that he's been wanting that ability so he could go back in time and prevent himself from ever becoming a murderer in the first place, and causing pain to Mohinder and so many others.

Does this sound familiar?  If so, can you tell me the author's name or post a link?  Thank you!  :0)

(and now, I have to run back to work on the projects that I'm falling behind on and about to get in trouble for...)
