Tonight, Tonight; or, What the FUCK was I thinking? Huh?

Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki

So, I had my Friday evening and Saturday morning all planned out: do a good chunk of the housework, watch Painkiller Jane and start on a review of it, get up early and mow the yard that's finally growing again, go to writing group to provide moral support to pretenddog, come home and finish up PKJ and another writing project.

Then at 5:30 pm on Friday, I started getting texts from ESP.  And ended up going over there.  I love them and I love hanging out with them, so I was happy to get to hang out with them.  And because the last THREE times I've been over there, we ended up watching Kung Fu Hustle (yes it IS that funny, seriously), I brought along some DVDs.

1. The MST3K episodes "Manos, The Hands of Fate"/"Santa Claus Conquers The Martians"
2. Veronica Mars S1
3. Heroes S1

I mean, seriously...I love my online friends but I need some people who I can call as soon as an episode of Heroes ends and scream OH MY GOD, like I used to with VM.  I'm trying to get likealongforgottendream hooked, but I figure S is my best local hope.

So we watched the first three episodes.  And S was intrigued. And...and...and...I left the DVDs with her.

I'll be seeing her at Q's housewarming party on Thursday.  Less than a week.

And she says she'll be done watching the season by then and will bring them to me.

My only consolation is that S finds Peter Petrelli annoying as shit and says that he needs to get a damn haircut.  I've assured her that Sylar will help out in that area eventually...

My brain shut down as soon as I saw the phrase "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" because I thought it was one of those movies only my friend who loves really bad movies knew existed. When we had our '06 Christmas movie marathon, that is what he made us watch. I have yet to forgive him for that one.

Hee hee hee hee! It's one of my favorite MST3K episodes ever. "Pills for dinner?...What are we, Judy Garland?" Of course about halfway through, E announced that he wasn't drunk enough to deal with it...

My boyfriend has that dvd, and I love "Manos" to death, but I have yet to watch "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians." I'm guessing we should. Soon.

I love terrible movies.

My friends couldn't sit through Manos--it was so bad that they couldn't even laugh at Joel and the bots. I think that I need to try something a little goofier--like Eegah. Oh--I think Secret Agent Super Dragon is coming out in the next MST3K volume! I should show them that one!

Really? We had six or seven people together, and we were laughing so hard we could hardly catch our breath. I've never seen any other MST3K episodes, though, sadly. Mostly we get together and mock movies ourselves (favorites include The Star Wars Holiday Special and the remake of The Wicker Man).

A friend of mine heard that they were reuniting the cast (Joel and the voices of the bots) to basically remake MST3K, but I don't know any details.

Oooh! I hadn't heard that. That could be interesting.

Hmm. Well, that's what she told me she'd heard, anyway, but when I tried googling Joel just now, I didn't see anything about it, so she or I may have heard wrong. :(
