Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki
Just posting because I've come up against a bit of writer's block (or maybe writer's overload) and although part of my brain is screaming OMG YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO DO OMG OMG OMG, I have to turn everything off and not think for a bit.  It's not helping that fall is finally here, after I've been ready for it for weeks.  It's drizzly and my feet are cold because both pairs of slippers and most of my socks are in the washing machine right now, and I just want to curl up with some hot tea and doze.  I can't wait till it snows.

From an actual conversation with Mohinder-loving friends last night about Heroes and its fandom:
Me: Sylar fangirls and Mohinder fangirls seem to get along pretty well.  Sylar fangirls and Peter fangirls, though--
J: FanGIRLS?  Peter has fanGIRLS?
Me: Well...yeah.
J: I mean, based on the way he behaves, especially with Nathan, I just really figured he pretty much only has fanBOYS.
Me:  ...I know several people who would be infuriated by that statement, but even more who will hoot and love you for it.
J: I'm not trying to be offensive!  I'm just saying...I wouldn't think he would attract fanGIRLS.  That's all I'm saying.

Also last night, we played Mario Party on the Wii for the first time.  It's a completely addictive and fun game and I probably should not buy it.  Except for E and his incessant crowing about how awesome he was and how Luigi always wins.  In fact, after he won, he even took a picture of the TV so that he could remember the triumph always.  Even his wife wanted to strangle him, I think.  There was even a point where M was thinking about eating some candy that would let him destroy half of someone else's coins, and everyone yelled for him not to destroy mine, because I was the only person left with a hope of beating E.  On second thought, perhaps I should buy the game so that I can practice and make certain of beating him next time...

OK.  Need to get some lunch, and then finish writing this review before I go to read my emails and my flist.

FanGIRLS? Peter has fanGIRLS?

BWAHAHAHA oh god I started laughing at that. LOL *wheeze*

Although, I suppose teh n00bs who are just now tuning in might fangirl Peter, what with all the bare-chested who-am-I angst and whatnot. (I'm actually starting to like Peter a lot, but I think it's because he's throwing out all those Sylar vibes. lol)

If Peter would forget to be all angsty and emo, I might start to like him. But to me, he was so lacking in the badass department (especially compared to Sylar) that I completely did not notice the barechestedness because I was enjoying the punching.

My utter crack fantasy is that he would open the box and it would have fake info that attributes Sylar's actions to him. Then he would go all "well, if that's the kind of guy I am, I might as well embrace it and go all evil". And </i>then</i> he would find out who he really was and freak out. Then I would be interested in the angst and emo-ing. Someone said that they could buy the fact that Peter is the sort of person who would hide from the unknown and not open the box, and I can too...but it still irritates me. Open the box, wimp!

If eharmony was for Heroes fandom, they would totally stick Sylar fangirls and Mohinder fangirls together. Because we are JUST THAT COMPATIBLE.

SYLAR= PEANUT BUTTER
MOHINDER= JELLY
TUNING FORK= BREAD

Y/N?

I don't even like PB&J, but even I endorse this metaphor. Why? Because it made me laugh.

Y/N?
Y!

SUCCESS!

I've actually been arguing to myself that Sylar and Mohinder are far, far more similar than either one of them would be comfortable admitting. Perhaps if I get the arguments laid out in enough detail, I shall post about it. At any rate, I think the characters do tend to attract fans who are like them, and I think that helps explain why Sylar and Mohinder fans seem to get along pretty well.

I find it interesting that that's the metaphor you used to describe how they go together. Because I quite like peanut butter, and sometimes I even just like to get a spoonful of it and slowly lick it off the spoon. I'd be willing to substitute something else to slowly lick it off of...and now this comment is going in a direction that might make male readers feel awkward and uncomfortable, so I'll just stop right there.

I have seen Peter fangirls in action, and they are... let's say interesting.There is definitely some sort of correlation between certain personality traits of the characters and the type of fangirls and fangirling they attract/inspire. Umm yes... that is all I will say about that. Also, I need a Wii like Sylar needs braaains! Seriously, why do I yet to own one?

I try not to think about Peter fangirls. Besides, all the personality tests tell me that I AM SYLAR, which means empathy is not something I need to worry about! Ha ha ha!

Well...they do cost $250. Which is over half the cost of a HD DVD player...

Peter fangirls often provide me minutes of incredible entertainment. Then my head starts to hurt, so I must retreat.

Oh no. All of my tests tell me I am Nathan. Does this mean that, deep down, I too am a Peter fanbrother fangirl?

Well...they do cost $250. Which is over half the cost of a HD DVD player...
Fail! Why must your remind me of my glaring lack of up-to-date electronic equipment? ::looks at DVD shelf:: My time will come!

Oh no. All of my tests tell me I am Nathan.

Perhaps you are actually Sylar, masquerading as Nathan, and the tests are unable to detect that no matter how much time you spend taking them. Which would seem to indicate that the tests were written by Parkman. Do you ever feel an urge to shoot the tests with their own "Next Question" buttons?...

Be advised that from now on, whenever a test tells me I am Nathan, I will instead declare that the test has named me Sylar and will cite your theory as the reason behind it. This is clearly the only way to go.
