Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki

Well, I got through euchre night at my house.  I was nervous about it because it was a weeknight and nice out and people had been cancelling, but 8 people showed up--exactly enough for two tables, you need exactly 4 people to play a euchre game, since I imagine 99% of people who read this will have no idea what euchre is--and it ended up being very relaxed.  Samih in particular was in rare form.  We learned that he knows all the Spice Girls names, and that he does a passable Mr. T impression ("I pity da fool dat don't trump dat ace!"), and that if you respond to his bizarre stream-of-consciousness rambling with "Have you taken your drugs today?", he will look at his arm for track marks.

It's always a fun night when you're at a table full of straight men who are giggling hysterically, even though not a single beer has been consumed.

Also...happy birthday, hippywitchknits!  Though I hope you are doing something fun and not sitting at home alone reading other people's lj's.

I know what euchre is! And how to spell it. I'm from Michigan, what can I say?

And by the way, I covet your VM "current emotion" picture things (yes, I know, very technical term).

I grew up in southern Ohio, went to college in northern Ohio, and now I live in Minnesota where people haven't even heard of the game. It's depressing. Such empty lives.

You can get the Veronica Mars mood them here: http://spiffy-themes.livejournal.com/3021.html

And good instructions on how to use it are here: http://community.livejournal.com/crackified/603.html

That would be depressing. Here, we play it all the time. In high school, I usually carried a deck of cards in my purse (I've always carried large purses), and if we had downtime in class (especially if we had a day in band where we didn't play for whatever reason), we'd play cards. I actually have a great shot of a poker game going on in the chem lab.

Thanks for the mood theme (that's what it's called!)!
