Detail of 'Yuuwaku' by Audrey Kawasaki
Do you ever have moment when you think, "How did I overlook that before?..."

I was hunting for a picture to post for the Heroes caption competition at TWoP. And you know how the writers have continued giving Sylar and Peter parallel storylines and similarities, even though I don't think either of them even thought about the other during Volume 2? I just realized one additional tiny similarity in their storylines. In "Kindred", Peter is sitting in a vehicle next to his female companion, who's kind of in shock, and has to shout at her to get her to drive them all off to safety. In "The Line", Sylar is sitting in a vehicle next to his female companion, who's kind of in shock, and has to shout at her to get her to drive them all off to safety.

Does that have some great significance? Not really. I just can't believe I overlooked it before.

Also, I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I made a sketch.

This is myself sitting on the couch and texting. I'm doing this in the picture because I really messed up the hands. I apparently have lost all my kneaded erasers and had to make do with the cheap one on the pencil I was using. There are two cats curled up in the blanket next to me. An oh-so-exciting slice of my life at 1:00 am on a Saturday morning.

The cats and I

And now, I'm off to hang up a new blind in the spare bedroom and cook some saffron rice.

Also, I should say that if you're looking for Heroes fic that's non-shippy, I would recommend The Self-Destruct Button by fakeplasticsnow.  It's about what Isaac decides to do on his last night alive.  sinemoras, it has imaginary snarky Ghost!Eden...

Love the pic, and oooh, gen fic! I will definitely check that out...

I didn't even realize the Peter/Sylar parallel with the cars, so that's neat! I love finding out new connections like that in the series :D

I didn't even realize the Peter/Sylar parallel with the cars, so that's neat!

This is one reason why I so desperately wish they would have put those two together this season, instead of trying to create "romances" that felt forced and/or creepy. The writers have kept pulling them down parallel paths and they're still set up to be antagonists in the future. But yet, they've only actually interacted three times (four if you count 5YG), and every encounter lasted a minute or two and was just the two of them fighting. I've seen several people say recently that Mohinder is a much better antagonist for Sylar, and I think they're right, but I think it's largely because Mohinder spent time with Sylar and developed a relationship with him before the killing started. From Peter's perspective, Sylar is just this dark shape that appears out of nowhere and tries to kill him. That's scary, but it doesn't have the same emotional resonance as Mohinder's perspective (what with the "I was really starting to think of you as a friend, but you were just using me" bitterness and the "You killed my father" vengefulness).

Thanks for the nice comment about the pic! I wasn't sure about posting it. But I drew it, so I figured "what the heck". I tend to sketch really lightly and I had a hard time getting a decent scan of it.

Aw, pic. I need to start farting around with my scanner- I keep forgetting.

Anyway, I'm just here to tell you that your winning comment for that caption made me emit this odd, screamy laugh. I showed the pic and comment to my mum and gran and they did the same thing. WOMAN. YOU HAVE CAUSED DESTRUCTION IN THE HAY HOUSEHOLD.

Hee! I am now creating havoc on two continents! XD

I'm not sure what prompted the bit about the nose-picking. But he really does look distracted, and not in a very good way...

Aw, poor thing. Just remember...one day, it will all be finished and you'll be able to be an actual doctor in peace!

I typically am awake till 1 or 2 am, and so is my best friend who's in another state, so we end up texting back and forth since everyone else we know is sleeping and she doesn't have internet access at home right now. I have chipped nails so many time from punching buttons while half-asleep...

She is under the delusion that a certain geneticist is more attractive than him. The poor confused thing...

Also I think we were texting about another friend of hers who moved halfway across the country to be with some guy she met on the internet. And mouth cooties. Don't ask... XD
