So am I crazy for thinking this?...

Misc - paper butterflies
Between my cold and my workplace doing everything possible to irritate me today, I am in a rotten non-productive mood. So I went through my flist in detail in an attempt to cheer myself up, and there were several fun posts from crafty_tardis (slogan: "For when you absolutely, postively must have a macrame Dalek"). It's always good for either the LOLOL (knitted jelly babies) or the OMFGawesome (ONE DAY, I WILL HAVE A TOM BAKER SCARF, I PROMISE YOU).

That's when I realized...this is what the Heroes fandom needs, to sustain us all and give us something positive to giggle over during the long dark teatime of the soul that is the current hiatus. A community called crafty_heroes. So, despite the fact that I have missed writing deadlines that I need to catch up on, and I have lots of other demands on my time, and I am still in my slow winter sloth stage...I am seriously considering searching around on the Internetz and LJ to see if it looks like there might be enough people sharing silly Heroes crafts to keep a comm like that active.  (Anyone know if there's something like this out there on LJ, or elsewhere?)

I'm not talking about NC-17 slash fanart here; I'm talking scrapbooking pages or knitting a replica of Mohinder's hideous scarf or making a Sylar outfit for your Ken doll. Sure, it's kinda cheesy, but we could use some good clean non-guilty fun now and then.

I adore this idea! I just wish I were more crafty! (I need to learn how to knit.)

I really like the idea but I'm in the same boat of not being very crafty - I'd love to see what people would come up with, but I don't know if I'd ever contribute to it. So I don't know if it's something that would work, or would just languish and die off. I suppose I won't know unless I start it, though...

You could have an "ideas" tag for people just brainstorming ideas that they didn't necessarily have the ability to create. And some people have insane skillz, but it would be fun to just do something simple, like getting a set of alphabet rubber stamps and stamping out slogans and quotes and stuff.

Funny you should mention crafts--I've been thinking about turning some of my lizard/cockroach Mylar doodles into eraser rubber stamps (draw a small, thick-lined picture in heavy pencil, press an eraser against it so the design transfers, and then very carefully carve away the white (or pink, if it's a pink eraser) parts with a box cutter.) I made rubber stamps for my last fandom, yeeeeeears ago.

I know what you mean about the possibility of it languishing and dying off, though--it's rare that I dig out the supplies and actually do a craft.

HA! That is hilarious. It reminds me of The AntiCraft. In one of the issues, they had a knitted penis and testicles...

Hee! What do you even do with a knitted penis?

Get a knitted uterus and make yarn babies, I guess.
