Misc - sunflowers 1
I am feeling like a total idiot right at the moment. This week is the Friends School plant sale, and I always volunteer at it, because the volunteers get to shop before the general public, which means you get first pick of everything and it's less crowded. However I've been out of it enough that I had the wrong night down. When the coordinator called to ask why I'd missed, he said that they reaaaaaaaaally need people to help with teardown on Sunday nights. So...I said I would. And now, I'm about to head out to load lumber onto a truck from 8 pm to midnight. WTF was I thinking?

It's mainly problematic because I really need to start doing yard work, but I only let myself go out for 45 minutes today because I was afraid of completely overdoing it. As it is, I got a couple of spots on my hands that are rubbed a bit sore already. Oh well. It will all sort itself out eventually.

I did play around with the new camera, which I am loving more and more. I was going to post several pictures but I'm running out of time, so I'll just stick with this one.

I bought some gerbera daisies and realized that one of them has Siamese twin flowers. No, seriously, check it out. You can see how the flower heads are smushed up against each other, and if you look at the stems, you can faintly see the seam where two separate stems were fused together.

I should write the Discovery Channel, to see if they have a program called "Botany Incredible".

I've actually seen that a lot with gerbera daisies (they're my favorite). I wonder if they're more prone to it than other types of flowers...

I've never seen it before, but then I usually only buy one or two because they're so expensive. This year, I splurged and got FOUR. I'm going to put them in the terra-cotta-colored plastic planters. If I ever have time...
