Hello everyone

KITH Chicken Lady...Rooster Boy!
I've been lurking and skimming posts on my flist and occasionally commenting, but it's been another week of being consumed by RL for me. I had people over Saturday for pumpkin-carving (I keep meaning to upload the video of the lit pumpkins to youtube, though now I'm afraid that jimmiefearsylar's sister will point and laugh at me, too). I...am not sure what we did Sunday, but I know we did something. Monday night was shopping and dinner out after work, Tuesday night I cleaned house and then only slept 45 minutes, so Wednesday I stayed home from work and was a shapeless lump on the couch all day, and today I'm at work but appear to be coming down with a cold and am still loopy.  Hopefully it is NOT an actual cold, as I'm invited to a party in my neighborhood tomorrow night, and Saturday Boyfriend's parents will be coming by for an afternoon visit, and Saturday night is traditionally card-playing night, and Sunday I have to rake leaves and mow the yard one last time...

I'm struggling with whether or not to take part in NaNoWriMo. I signed up for an account (under this same user name). However, I do not have any ideas that I think could wind up being novel-length - I'm very much a short story person. So I'm considering just writing on a story idea till it's finished, and then starting a new idea. I realize that's not the point of National NOVEL Writing Month, but at the same time, I need something to kick-start me into writing something, ANYTHING, again.

OK.  Yeah.  Time to end the boring post of boring.  I hope you're all doing well, and not yet driven crazy by the plethora of political ads that are assaulting us left, right and center.  I will say, I think Al Franken's ads are the funniest I've seen yet, but then that's exactly what one would expect from him.

Hey there, I totally hear you about RL. There is tons and tons of stuff I want to reply to and read but I have no time. I think I've read 10 fanfics in total in the last two or three months.

I hope you don't have a cold, I just got over one and because I'm crazy I refused to slow down one bit but yesterday it hit me that I was sick and didn't take a break and now it's taking it's toll. I'm glad you rested up a bit, maybe take some Neocitrin to really make sure it doesn't happen. If you are daring, my friend knows stewardess's who take Neocitrin with a shot of rum to ward off colds, but I'm too chicken-shit to try it. Actually, I don't recommend it, plenty of tea and some Neocitrin will hopefully do it and then you won't be to sick for the party.

I don't watch my TV unless I absolutely have to so I have managed to avoid all the political ads.

I'm hoping I just have a stuffy head due to the ever-changing fall weather. Also I don't want to infect the many people I'll be seeing this weekend. We'll see...

You are so lucky to have missed the political ads. Apparently, no matter who I vote for in any race, I'm doomed, because every candidate is EVIL EVIL EVIL [/end Big Booming Voiceover of DOOOOOM]. At this point, I just want to strangle them all.

I hope you aren't catching a cold, and if you are, hope it's not a serious one and that it'll go away soon!

I've been debating about NaNoWriMo for a while, so I completely understand how you feel about it. It's just so... daunting. Plus, I feel more comfortable with short stories as well. If the goal was to churn out about 50 1,000-word fics, or something like that, I'd probably be a lot more eager to join up. That said, whatever you end up doing with your OF, I wish you luck on it!

That's the thing with NaNoWriMo: I used to go to a writing group where they threw out a random prompt and we'd all write on it for 15 minutes. So I know that I can ideas and come up with something quick and fun. But to spin that out into a full-length novel? Eck. It might be kind of cheating to not actually write a novel, but I'd really like to have the motivation to work on some smaller ideas I've got.
